PG&E Caused Over 1,500 California Wildfires in 6 years

Corrupt Lenders

According to a report from Yahoo! News, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) caused over 1,500 California wildfires over the last six years. After a little quick math, that’s around 250 wildfires every single year, all created by one utility company.

Unfortunately, this news is hardly shocking. Even California Gov. Gavin Newsom accused PG&E of prioritizing profits over safety measures throughout the past few decades. All in all, something must put a stop to the absolutely stupid number of very preventable wildfires in California.

The only thing PG&E seems to be doing to help mitigate these disastrous wildfires is to shut off power for large swaths of their customers periodically. The energy company feels this will help prevent fires from sparking during high wind and dry weather events. Unfortunately, even with the shutoffs, it looks like PG&E started yet another giant California wildfire this year. That’s right, the Kincade Fire may very well have been started by PG&E shortly after one of their most recent Northern California shutoffs.
