The deadline to file a claim with PG&E for damages due to the Camp Fire (and other California 2017 and 2018 wildfires) is October 21, 2019. To register for a claim, lawyer up with us and fill out the claim form found HERE.
In January, PG&E filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy (also called a “restructuring bankruptcy”). With these types of bankruptcy cases, the company filing has debt that exceeds its profits and assets. During a restructuring bankruptcy, the offending company’s debt is erased. However, that only happens under the condition that it will restructure itself in such a way to prevent the type of financial situation that forced them to file initially. However, that doesn’t necessarily immunize them from lawsuits (not all lawsuits are stopped by an “automatic stay”).
