According to a report by KTLA 5 News, evacuation orders have been issued in the Murrieta area due to the Tenaja Fire. The fire, which started Wednesday afternoon, has already swelled to around 1400 acres and is threatening nearly 2000 homes in the area.
As of today, mandatory evacuation orders were issued by Cal Fire Riverside for the following roads near Murrieta:
- Montanya Place
- Bonita Place
- Belcara Place
- Lone Oak Way
Previous evacuation orders are still in effect for the following areas:
- The Trails Circle in La Cresta
- Copper Canyon south of Calle del Oso Oro
Unfortunately, according to Cal Fire Capt. Fernando Herrera, the fire is currently only around 7% contained. As of 2:00 p.m., Capt. Herrera estimates that at least 2000 residents and homes are under the current evacuation orders for the fire.
There is currently a smoke advisory warning (issued by the South Coast Air Quality Management District) that started Wednesday evening.
So far, the cause of the fire has not been determined.
